Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli
This morning we depart on our safari adventure. Drive to Amboseli National Park nestled at the foothills of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Amboseli is a top destination in Kenya for wildlife. Indeed, one of the classic images of East Africa is that of a herd of elephant strolling across the plains with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro in the background. It is to catch this sight that people flood to Amboseli National Park. While Kilimanjaro is actually across the border in Tanzania, Amboseli has a perfect view of the world’s tallest free-standing mountain, rising an impressive 5895 metres above the plains.  We will arrive in time for lunch and later enjoy a late afternoon nature walk with local Maasai

Included meals: Lunch, Dinner

Approximate driving time: 5 hours

Day 2: Amboseli

A day of game driving in the park, which contains swamp grounds in which elephants and hippos are in abundance.  A variety of plains game, antelopes and birds can be also be seen.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 3: Amboseli to Nairobi

The best time to view the majestic mountain is at dawn, when the clouds lift and the light is clear and soft.  We will take an early morning game drive to witness the African sunrise lighten the majestic mountain, distributing its golden rays to the dry savannah of Amboseli National Park. It’s a very good photo opportunity.  In the afternoon, on your return to Nairobi, head to Kibera to visit Amani Kibera’s projects including the library, the young women’s group and, if our timing is good, a football game.  Amani Kibera is a community-based organisation working for harmony and peace in Nairobi’s slums.  Their focus is on young people, assisting in getting girls back to school, building a library and establishing a football league.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Nairobi to Nakuru
Visit the Giraffe Centre and the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage.  After lunch, depart for Nakuru.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Approximate driving time: 4 hours

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru National Park is famous as the home to thousands of greater and lesser flamingos. The park also provides sanctuary for Rothschild giraffe, rhino and leopard. You can choose to pack a picnic lunch or return to your accommodation for lunch before continuing with an afternoon game drive.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Nakuru to Maasai Mara

Drive to the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve.  Maasai Mara, Kenya’s greatest wildlife reserve, is without a doubt Africa’s most famous safari destination. The Maasai Mara Ecosystem is where over two million wildebeest and zebra migrate annually.  It also holds one of the highest lion densities in the world, which is why it the home of the BBC wildlife channel’s Big Cat Diary.  Other game includes: leopard, cheetah, buffalo, rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra, lion, plains game, crocodile and small mammals including mongoose, hyrax, dik dik and the nocturnal porcupine.  Enjoy a late afternoon game drive followed by dinner.
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Approximate driving time: 6 hours

Day 7: Maasai Mara
Spend a full day game driving in the Maasai Mara. The abundance and variety of game in this reserve is nothing short of amazing. Nearly every mammal can be seen in the Maasai Mara, including various antelopes, scavengers like hyena and vultures, and all the cats (lion, cheetah and leopard).  Sighting a leopard needs luck more than just being there, but lions are abundant and there are excellent chances for spotting cheetah. The hippo pool is a popular spot to watch out for hippos; with luck, you may catch crocodile basking on the rocks. Elephants, buffalo, the Maasai giraffe, wildebeest and the common zebra abound.
Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

To start our honeymoon, we spent two days in the stunning Amboseli National Park. Tracey and Francis took wonderful care of us, and booked us into an amazing room at the Amboseli Serena Lodge. The elephants were a highlight of our whole trip, and getting up early to see Kilimanjaro was well with it.

I have only good things to say about making the arrangements for the trip. Tracey always respond quickly to my emails, and we're really pleased that we chose OTA.
