Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli
This morning we depart on our safari adventure. Drive to Amboseli National Park nestled at the foothills of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Amboseli is a top destination in Kenya for wildlife. Indeed, one of the classic images of East Africa is that of a herd of elephant strolling across the plains with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro in the background. It is to catch this sight that people flood to Amboseli National Park. While Kilimanjaro is actually across the border in Tanzania, Amboseli has a perfect view of the world’s tallest free-standing mountain, rising an impressive 5895 metres above the plains. We will arrive in time for lunch and later enjoy a late afternoon nature walk with local Maasai

The best time to view the majestic mountain is at dawn, when the clouds lift and the light is clear and soft. We will take an early morning game drive to witness the African sunrise lighten the majestic mountain, distributing its golden rays to the dry savannah of Amboseli National Park. It’s a very good photo opportunity. In the afternoon, on your return to Nairobi, head to Kibera to visit Amani Kibera’s projects including the library, the young women’s group and, if our timing is good, a football game. Amani Kibera is a community-based organisation working for harmony and peace in Nairobi’s slums. Their focus is on young people, assisting in getting girls back to school, building a library and establishing a football league.

To start our honeymoon, we spent two days in the stunning Amboseli National Park. Tracey and Francis took wonderful care of us, and booked us into an amazing room at the Amboseli Serena Lodge. The elephants were a highlight of our whole trip, and getting up early to see Kilimanjaro was well with it.
I have only good things to say about making the arrangements for the trip. Tracey always respond quickly to my emails, and we're really pleased that we chose OTA.
